YAC is gearing up for our 40th annual Spring Conference on Mackinac Island June 10-12, 2009.  This year’s theme YAC Stayin’ Alive, promises to bring relevant education, plenty of networking with other agents, company and vendor participants, and lots of polyester up to the island in good old YAC fashion.

Need to brush up on your sales skills?  Dale Carnegie Master Trainer Phil Zeller will be on hand to teach two classes on sales: The Sales Differentiation Factor, and Moving People to Action.  Concurrent CE classes are provided on Commercial Lines Issues for 2009; Michigan No-Fault and renting cars; Certificates of Insurance (one of the most common E&O problems facing agents today) and EPLI (Employment Practices Liability).  We are also providing a 3 hour Ethics class to satisfy state CE requirements, as well as a 3 hour Flood class to satisfy the federal requirements to sell flood insurance.

 Last month your YAC board traveled to Las Vegas for the 2008 IIABA Young Agents Leadership Institute. We are excited to announce that your Michigan YAC board has once again been honored nationally for their efforts. We received the 2008 Outstanding YAC of the Year Runner-Up Award. This marks the 7th time in 8 years  MI YAC has been recognized nationally by the IIABA. There are 6 categories that are submitted for either separately or all together as a package these include: Membership Development, State Committee project, Communications, Young Agents Meeting, Political Involvement, and Oustanding Young Agents Committee of the Year.   For the past several years your YAC board has submitted to each and every category.   The previous awards won are as follows; 2000 State Committee Project (tied with Indiana), 2002 Young Agents Meeting, 2003 Young Agents Meeting, 2004 Communications and YAC of the Year Runner-Up, and 2006 Young Agents Meeting, and 2007 Communications.  We would like to thank all of your for your continued support and contributions to YAC without your help there wouldn’t be a YAC!

The 10th annual YAC Charity Golf outing was held on September 16th September 29th at Forest Akers in Lansing.  We were extremely fortunate the rain held off until the evening.  Although chilly, a good time was had by all.
